Oppo promised a flagship killer smartphone at MWC in February this year. Promising 10x lossless zoom mechanism in their OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM , Oppo managed to steal the attention of the market with this newfangled prospect. But does the phone stand a chance to stand in the limelight for long? Will this approach quench the user’s thirst for excitement? Let us dive into the gadget’s detailed specifications to know!
1Oppo reno “10x zoom” feature
The feature, rightly termed as, optic zoom camera feature uses prism to bend light at a perpendicular angle into a mound with camera’s optics and sensors. Without the above mentioned strategy (or any other/new strategy), optic zoom feature can not be operated on any smartphone due to its slim body type. Nonetheless, now we can enjoy the feature without having to use a tripod stand. Thanks to advancement in technology!
The handset’s name comes from the 10x “hybrid” zoom that the brand uses. This is same as what Huawei used in its recent phone Huawei P30 Pro. The smartphone claims of 5x optical zoom while OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM steps up to boats of 6x optical zoom.
2OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM specifications: DESIGN
OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM sports a 6.6 inch, FHD+, AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone also boasts of Corning Gorrila Glass 6. The phone weighs an aggressive 210g and is 9.3mm thick which makes the handset very bulky for single hand usage.
The handset is available in three colors viz. Ocean green, Jet Black and Mist Pink. The brand opts for a pop-up “shark-fin” selfie camera panel which houses front camera, LED illuminator, earpiece, secondary microphone, and dual-LED rear camera flash. The lower end of the panel houses USB Type-C port, speaker and hybrid dual- SIM tray. The volume buttons are on the left side of the panel while the power button is on the right.
The rear camera is placed vertically in the centre of the back glass panel followed by the brand’s logo and strap-line “designed by oppo”. The camera system aligns completely with the panel. To prevent scratches on the camera lenses in the face-up position, oppo introduced a small nub right below the camera system. The matt finished glass panel at the back have curved edges that adjoins the aluminum panel evenly. Though, smudges were observed on the glass during usage, yet, the finish is attractive.
3OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM specifications: HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with Adreno 640 graphics. The phone operates on Octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 485 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 485 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 485) CPU and Android 9 pie based colorOS 6.0 UI.

Like other phones in the market, OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM has various connectivity options including 4G VoLTE support and traditional WiFi and Bluetooth connectivities. It has a USB Type C-port with a 4,065 mAh battery and the box comes completed with a 20W charger that provides Oppo’s VOOC 3.0 quick charging. One disappointing factor that we found was that the phone doesn’t support wireless charging

The phone boasts an in-display fingerprint sensor which is noticeably slower. It also has face recognition unlock feature, whose working efficiency depends upon the light. In addition, the phone also sports Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass and Gyroscope.
4OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM specifications: CAMERA
OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM embodies triple rear camera 48MP+13MP+8 MP. The camera quality suited our taste. The colour reproduction and detailing were impressive. The camera did not disappoint us even in the low light. We experienced a loss of details in zoomed in pictures which makes the camera less than perfect. On the front, OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM houses 16MP camera. The shots taken were sub-par as the camera brings in a tacky white effect on the face even when the beauty feature is turned off. Otherwise, the detailing and sharpness were top notch.
The phone’s performance is top notch and no lag was noticed. It can handle heavy games and multitasking. Considering everything, the camera is excellent but a little less than our expectations. The storage capacity is top-in-class. The finished look of the smartphone is classy. The only drawback is the fingerprint scanner which is a little slow to our liking. Overall, the phone ranks high on our list and if the price is not an issue, OPPO RENO 10X ZOOM is worth a shot.
